Tuesday, March 27th, 2007It’s been over a year since we first fell in love with and posted Yelle’s “Je Veux Te Voir”, but it’s never too late to revisit — ’specially since she’s finally starting to pick up some heat Stateside. The video looks like MIA’s “Galang” but with lots more hearts and rainbows and shit. It is totally your favorite trapper keeper from fifth grade.

Outputmessage (with My Robot Friend) - Marcheurs de Sommeil (Sleepwalkers)
Outputmessage, a.k.a. Bernard Emmanuel Farley has everything to do with robots. He's been featured on MFR in the not so distant past, and Bernard's Song from Ghostly's 2003 compilation Idol Tryouts Vol. 1 was one of my very favorite MP3 blog tracks back when my iPod Mini (yeah, old school like that I'm afraid) was brand new.
This time Bernard teams up with fellow NYC-ster, robot, and Electroclash survivor My Robot Friend. While MRF's music is typically much more of a pounding electronic affair, matched by live performances where his cock rockets off into the crowd (literally), they strike an amazing balance in this collaboration, finding a productive median that yielded this amazing beautiful track. This song is one of the several now available on the Sommeil Remixes EP, which is currently available on Melodic Records, and can be bought straight from the label.
So in case you haven't figured it out yet, we're quite pro-robot around here. It helps when they are self-professedly your friend, and also helps when they add a masterful touch to an already wonderful piece of music. So cheers to that, beepity beep, etc etc!

I recently wrote this note to a friend in regards to Hail Social’s new album, Modern Love And Death:
very… like 70’s non-dance disco but like post-punk at the same time. very um, unlikely. but just so good. almost important even.
Ok, that was at like 3am, but my opinion hasn’t changed much. It seems like Hail Social are on the brink of something very important… maybe not quite there yet. But…
Whatever. Modern Love And Death is definitely a late night treat. Like the perfect post-club/show chill out album.
