Thank you Whiteboydancefloor for dropping us a note and reminding us that the new San Serac album is out. “Tyrant” was a total favorite a year ago today, and our opinion hasn’t really changed.
There is a lot of weight behind this comparison and I wouldn’t make it unless I really meant it, but San Serac is the closest thing to David Bowie that the current dance scene has… Not only vocally, but there’s a certain physical style and feeling emoted that you can’t help but think of Bowie. Of course this comparison hasn’t escaped San Serac. He tackles Bowie’s “Teenage Wildlife” and handles it, um, dare I say… better than.

Buy PROFESSIONAL. It is not to be missed.

The new track from singer-songwriter is a classic slice of nostalgia-rock, Joseph's falsetto cooing "You could be my diamond ring" over bluesy, radio-ready swing. The single comes from Let It Be (out 4/17), the first of two records he's got...

About a year ago now, we lost it over the evolution of Brooklyn indie rockers Sam Champion, somehow morphing from "that local band" into a swaggering tour de force. Then, we warned that "nothing they've set to tape" did 'em...

Ex-Grandaddy guitarist Jim Fairchild's forthcoming solo effort is one worth checking out, if only to remind yourself of the depth of talent surrounding Lytle during the sadly defunct band's halcyon days. Last time, we quoted Jim's description of the album:You...

We were just talking about The Hold Steady recording a Twins-centric take on the old seventh-inning standard, and now the band's been good enough to unleash it to the web. It's just under two minutes, so don't stretch too hard...

Lots of promising stuff on the hipsterfied Spiderman 3 soundtrack, but naturally the good stuff will have to wait until the Grey's-approved singles are outta the way. So if you need to breakaway from the Fray for a minute, here's...

I'm sick as a dog. It's just a cold, but it's one of the worst colds I've ever had. I can't sleep, I can't breathe, I can't do anything. But my ears still work (kinda), and I've listened to this track more than a few times since I got sick last week. It's done me a world of good.
Mandrew - Hotwax.
Mandrew is the mantle for Mike Andrew (get it?!), a Minneapolis musician with a backing band of Ryan Lovan on drums, Jen Case on bass, James Everest on guitar, Pete Sands on keyboards, and Jessica Hayssen on violin and percussion. This is from his record The Wonderful World Of Mandrew, a collection of strange, great pop songs. It's creative, it's eclectic, it's fun.
You should order The Wonderful World Of Mandrew from CD Baby.
