The boys from The Glass are at it again. We posted two of their remixes about a month ago and they’ve already cranked out two more…all the while preparing to jump on to a European tour next week. One song is from Photo Atlas and the other from Neurotic Drum Band. These little tidbits will have to hold you off until they return to the states. Maybe they’ll bring us back a musical souvenier or two….

Photo Atlas - “Handshake Heart Attack” (The Glass rmx)

Neurotic Drum Band - “We’re Gonna Rock New York” (The Glass Rmx)

New York, you’ve got one more chance to hear The Glass before the tour….deets (more…)

the glass

Ive been intrigued by The Glass ever since I heard my friend spin their part of the “Sound of Young New York” vinyl at a house party years ago. They just put the finishing touches on remixes for Shitake Monkey and Vice records’ 120 Days. And while looking over at their myspace I got a bit dizzy looking at their list of projects.  Personally, I think they should take some time off for themselves and put out another album b/c the last one got a fair amount of airtime on my ipod.  Oh, new york boys love to bring the grime….and I love new york boys.

Wow, The Glass. The Glass’ new album is just total lo-fi disco love. I’m totally not just saying this — I’ve been in a bit of a funk for the past couple months. This is the album that I’ve been waiting for to get me out of that funk. Totally good in that way.

“Mad At You” sounds like fifty songs crammed into one… I should say fifty I already know and love. Is it just me or do the first fifteen seconds sound like they’re lifted from Daft Punk’s “Around The World”? Hm, either way that only increases my love for this track by like times twenty. And the fact that this track doesn’t need a remix for the dance floors is a total bonus:

Bonus track: Kasper Bjorke remix of “Come Alive” — there are a few remixes of “Come Alive” including a pretty stellar one by Rinôçerôse, but Kasper Bjorke’s is the best of the bunch. I think Acid Girls beat me to the punch… but only cuz I’m way lazy. The remix loses me somewhere around the three minute mark though that opinion is based solely on living room play. I’m sure it makes more sense in a club orientated context. Obviously.
