Y'all might remember a while back we co-sponsored a tour that featured the Mobius Band and Baby Dayliner. They wrapped up their tour, and brought back a full recount of the experience. So here it is - more pictures and the full story after the jump:

"a rock band piled together in a passenger van circling the united states is a strange phenomenon, but you can read about that anywhere. how about this though: a rock band mobius band and a solo artist baby dayliner on a month-long MFR-sponsored tour, sharing the same van, sleeping on the same floors, eating the same filet-o-fish's... having never met before the first show! it's got all the built in drama of a classic sitcom, no? will one kill the other under cover of night? will mobius band leave baby dayliner at a south dakota gas station 'on accident'? will baby dayliner ever learn to navigate the hall-of-mirrors sarcasm that is mobius band's trademark?
or... will mobius band and baby dayliner get along so well, and bond so thoroughly, that it affirms all humanity in a warming glow of trust and friendship? yeah the last one. little did mobius band know that baby dayliner (born ethan marunas but anyone with any sense calls him 'baby'), is that one in a million individual that could navigate the intricacies and eccentricities of our band, and in fact- this is where the tv show angle comes in - teach us something too. here's baby dayliner showing mobius band how to serve this royalty in wisconsin.

and how about the national, who we had the good fortune to play with up and down the west coast. go look up 'classy' in the dictionary and there's a big family-style pen and ink drawing of the national. how classy? brian just gave me a jacket the other day, that's how classy. never mind that it was 3 sizes too small for him. how classy? padma taught us how to speak australian. how classy? here's a picture of matt serenading his niece at a soundcheck.

the singular highlight of this tour was an unplanned stop in with baby's cousin earle in bozeman, montana, just as the season's first snowstorm reared up. we had a long (long, long) drive to chicago looming, but the lure of earle's restaurant was too good to pass up. what followed was an honest to god oasis in the desert of too-much-driving: we dined on bison and rabbit, we drank fine wine, and we had conversations with people that were not selling us gasoline. we saw all that bozeman had to offer an underfed, overtired band. here's baby feeling overtired, and probably overindulged too, at earle's two-car-garage-cum-bachelor-pad.

it was a good tour, and all brought to you by the one and only MFR. back home now, and both mobius band and baby dayliner are holed up in our respective labs writing songs for our next records. feel free to roll by our practice space next to the manhattan bridge to share in some artisanal drinking waters and fine, imported grapes. we'll go get a filet-o-fish for old times sake. happy holidays."
